Break Up With Your IT Contract: It’s Not You, It’s Them

As an entrepreneur, any service that you outsource for your business is an investment of your time and money.  IT support is an essential service, so many businesses rely heavily on their IT support provider. However, an IT contract can include clauses that can negatively impact your business in the long run.

If your current contract has any of these 3 features, it might be time to break-up with your IT company.

Long Term

The average IT contract is set for 3 – 5 years of service. The reason IT service providers lock clients into multi-year, long-term contracts is to ensure that they make a profit.

While this is great for the IT service provider, it can present a challenge for business owners. With no flexibility for adjustments, a long-term IT contact can become a headache as your business needs change over the years.

Minimal Support Updates

Any entrepreneur knows that growth and change are constant when you own a small business. To stay productive, your IT support needs to keep up!

Some IT providers will continue to offer the same level of support to a client throughout the length of their contract. This lack of support can be frustrating, especially when you look to your IT provider to recommend the best services for your business.

Difficult to Cancel

As a business owner, you might find yourself in the difficult situation of wanting to cancel your contract before its end date. Whether it’s for poor customer service, or changing business needs, this might be easier said than done. Most IT service providers will stipulate that you must pay out the contract in full to cancel. This forces you to make a costly and difficult decision if you are not happy with your service.

At Braver Technology Solutions we operate on a no long-term contract business model. We believe that we should earn our clients continued support and business through every interaction – and have done so since 1989.
